We strive to offer children a program that is affordable, fun and safe. One of the key elements of this program is “play!" Through play, children increase their social competence and emotional maturity. Activities will include indoor and outdoor sports, group games, arts & crafts, music, dance and occasional field trips. Each day quiet time will also be offered for participants to complete daily homework.A parent handbook has been prepared for your convenience. It informs you of our policies and procedures as well as to provide valuable information to help you to navigate the many details involved with this program.  We ask that you keep this handbook in a handy place for easy reference, or please find a copy on our website (below) for your convenience. Jack Elementary Schools.Where: George E. Jack Elementary School. Participants who do not attend George E. Jack during the day will be transported by the MSAD6 transportation department. Parents are responsible for making sure to set up transportation with the department. Drop off and pick up are at the side entrance of George E. Jack. Before School Program (BSP): Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., excluding all school vacations, inservice days, holidays, or snow days at G.E. Jack School. The BSP will not be held on any unscheduled late arrival days (such as those due to weather). Children attending Edna Libby and Steep Falls Schools will be transported from G.E. Jack will arrive at their schools by 8:50 a.m.**Please note the Bonny Eagle MSAD6 Transportation Policy at www.bonnyeagle.orgAfter School Program (ASP): Monday - Friday 2:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., excluding all school vacations, inservice days, holidays, or school closure days (weather cancellation, etc) at G.E. Late Arrival Days: The Before School Program WILL BE HELD on the district's 9 scheduled late arrival days and is included in the fee for those registered to attend the Before School Program.  Children enrolled in the After School Program are eligible to register for the 9 late arrival days for a fee of $135.00, to be paid in full at time of registration. Please call the office at 642-2875 if you would like this option added to your account.Fees and Payment Information:Automatic monthly payments will be set up when registering to have your credit/debit card charged on the first of each month automatically. The Parks & Recreation Department should be notified if the payment information needs to be updated should your card expire or need to be changed for any reason.  Declined payments must be corrected as soon as notification is sent and failure to make payments on past due balances could result in suspension from the program. Cancellation/Refund Policy:Written notice is required two weeks prior to the desired withdrawal date. A refund will be issued at a pro-rated amount for the remainder of the program, beginning on the first day of the next monthly billing cycle. Any days remaining in the month of withdrawal will not be refunded. 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM    Scholarship Fund - Scholarship Donation
Help us build a Standish Recreation Scholarship Fund!This Scholarship Fund has been established to benefit those community members/households who would like to participate in Parks and Recreation programs, but, due to economic circumstances, are not able to pay their total registration fees.Once the fund can support it, financial aid will be available for youth and adult program participation on a limited basis. More info on how to apply will be coming shortly. You can adjust the amount of the donation at check out.

        We're back together again (INSIDE)!We have returned to the Standish Municipal Center at the Sebago Lake Room. Registration MUST be done online, no cash accepted in person. If you need help registering, please call us at 642-2875 and be prepared to pay over the phone with debit or credit card. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will NOT be a class because I will still be on my bus. You can listen to the tv or check school cancellations on line. At your first class, you can request Deb's contact information and she is happy to share it with you.

The Standish Active Seniors is a group of older adults from Standish and surrounding communities who regularly come together for friendly conversation, community, and social connection. Each meeting brings a new educational topic or entertainment.The group relies on its member volunteers to organize theme events, decorate for holidays, serve meals, plan events, and recruit new members to join. The Standish Parks & Recreation Department supports this group by providing lunches, planning trips and tours, and promoting activities.New members are always welcome! Join us! 5:30 PM - 6:15 PM    Basketball Skills & Drills - Basketball Skills K-3
   Join us for an introductory program focusing mostly on dribbling and passing skills. We will play different types of games that will include these skill sets. Help develop skills, exercise, make friends, and mostly - have fun!If you are enrolled in the after school program, and in Kindergarten - 3rd grade, you do not have to pick your child up until 6:15pm. The kids will be brought upstairs to the gym for the program. If you are not enrolled in the after school program, we will be using the front gym doors as a drop off and pick up location. Parents will not be allowed inside the gym, we will have a staff person at the door to handle the drop off and pick up. Masks will be required.

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM    Tai Chi - Tai Chi
                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note: If school for MSAD 6 is cancelled due to weather, class will be cancelled and the session will be extended out another week.Date: ThursdaysTime: 9:30 - 10:30 amCost: 8 week session $54 or drop in $8 per classInstructor: Albert Delaney Covid-19 vaccination and masks required. Join Gail in the the Sebago Lake room for some watercolor play.Bring you own watercolor paints and brushes - or a Beginner Watercolor set and brushes can be purchased from us for $15.This is a very introductory class intended to be relaxing, fun, with an emphasis on play.         Standish Community Dog Park CommitteeMission Statement: To establish a fenced-in, off-leash dog park where dogs and dog lovers and friends have a safe, well-maintained environment for recreation and socialization. To promote responsible ca-nine care to Standish area citizens and visitors who will uphold the park’s rules. To respond to the needs of the area for a multigenerational park activity for pets and their people that will be a complement to the town’s existing recreation areas and maintain a positive presence in the community by encouraging recreation through the dog park.How will the park be funded? The dog park is part of an existing expansion project at Memorial Park on Route 25 that will include expanded parking and multipurpose fields (funded by a 2015 bond) and a playground (funded by a 2018 grant). The construction and materials for the dog park are funded by donations, fundraisers and a $25,000 grant awarded by Pet Safe (Standish is one of nine winners in the US). The Ad-hoc Committee will develop a management plan for rules and on-going maintenance of the park to present to the Town Council for approval (April 2019) How to get involved:-Make a donation @ www.standishrec.com or in person at Town Hall-Participate in one of the many fundraisers this year (check website for details)-Donate bottles to our Clynk account (bags available at Parks & Rec office)-Follow the “Standish Community Dog Park” Facebook page for updates       -Join the Ad-Hoc Committee.         We're back together again (INSIDE)!We have returned to the Standish Municipal Center at the Sebago Lake Room. Registration MUST be done online, no cash accepted in person. If you need help registering, please call us at 642-2875 and be prepared to pay over the phone with debit or credit card. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will NOT be a class because I will still be on my bus. You can listen to the tv or check school cancellations on line.    Join us for an introductory program focused on learning the game of flag football. This program will include learning the rules, improving running skills, hand to eye coordination skills, playing as/in a team, playing the games fairly and dealing with winning and losing in a respectful way. We plan to do all of this in a fun and inclusive environment.If you are enrolled in the after school program, and in Kindergarten - 3rd grade, you do not have to pick your child up until 6:15pm. The participants will be brought upstairs to the gym for the program. If you are not enrolled in the after school program, we will be using the front gym doors as a drop off and pick up location. Parents will not be allowed inside the gym, we will have a staff person at the door to handle the drop off and pick up. Masks will be required for all players and coaches.

        Standish Community Dog Park CommitteeMission Statement: To establish a fenced-in, off-leash dog park where dogs and dog lovers and friends have a safe, well-maintained environment for recreation and socialization. To promote responsible ca-nine care to Standish area citizens and visitors who will uphold the park’s rules. To respond to the needs of the area for a multigenerational park activity for pets and their people that will be a complement to the town’s existing recreation areas and maintain a positive presence in the community by encouraging recreation through the dog park.How will the park be funded? The dog park is part of an existing expansion project at Memorial Park on Route 25 that will include expanded parking and multipurpose fields (funded by a 2015 bond) and a playground (funded by a 2018 grant). The construction and materials for the dog park are funded by donations, fundraisers and a $25,000 grant awarded by Pet Safe (Standish is one of nine winners in the US). The Ad-hoc Committee will develop a management plan for rules and on-going maintenance of the park to present to the Town Council for approval (April 2019) How to get involved:-Make a donation @ www.standishrec.com or in person at Town Hall-Participate in one of the many fundraisers this year (check website for details)-Donate bottles to our Clynk account (bags available at Parks & Rec office)-Follow the “Standish Community Dog Park” Facebook page for updates       -Join the Ad-Hoc Committee. This program will include learning the rules, improving running skills, hand to eye coordination skills, playing as/in a team, playing the games fairly and dealing with winning and losing in a respectful way. We plan to do all of this in a fun and inclusive environment.If you are enrolled in the after school program, and in Kindergarten - 3rd grade, you do not have to pick your child up until 6:15pm.                   Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.         Standish Community Dog Park CommitteeMission Statement: To establish a fenced-in, off-leash dog park where dogs and dog lovers and friends have a safe, well-maintained environment for recreation and socialization. To promote responsible ca-nine care to Standish area citizens and visitors who will uphold the park’s rules. To respond to the needs of the area for a multigenerational park activity for pets and their people that will be a complement to the town’s existing recreation areas and maintain a positive presence in the community by encouraging recreation through the dog park.How will the park be funded? The dog park is part of an existing expansion project at Memorial Park on Route 25 that will include expanded parking and multipurpose fields (funded by a 2015 bond) and a playground (funded by a 2018 grant). The construction and materials for the dog park are funded by donations, fundraisers and a $25,000 grant awarded by Pet Safe (Standish is one of nine winners in the US). The Ad-hoc Committee will develop a management plan for rules and on-going maintenance of the park to present to the Town Council for approval (April 2019) How to get involved:-Make a donation @ www.standishrec.com or in person at Town Hall-Participate in one of the many fundraisers this year (check website for details)-Donate bottles to our Clynk account (bags available at Parks & Rec office)-Follow the “Standish Community Dog Park” Facebook page for updates       -Join the Ad-Hoc Committee.         We're back together again (INSIDE)!We have returned to the Standish Municipal Center at the Sebago Lake Room. Registration MUST be done online, no cash accepted in person. If you need help registering, please call us at 642-2875 and be prepared to pay over the phone with debit or credit card. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will NOT be a class because I will still be on my bus. You can listen to the tv or check school cancellations on line.    Join us for an introductory program focused on learning the game of flag football. This program will include learning the rules, improving running skills, hand to eye coordination skills, playing as/in a team, playing the games fairly and dealing with winning and losing in a respectful way. We plan to do all of this in a fun and inclusive environment.If you are enrolled in the after school program, and in Kindergarten - 3rd grade, you do not have to pick your child up until 6:15pm. The participants will be brought upstairs to the gym for the program. If you are not enrolled in the after school program, we will be using the front gym doors as a drop off and pick up location. Parents will not be allowed inside the gym, we will have a staff person at the door to handle the drop off and pick up. Masks will be required for all players and coaches.

                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note: If school for MSAD 6 is cancelled due to weather, class will be cancelled and the session will be extended out another week.Date: ThursdaysTime: 9:30 - 10:30 amCost: 8 week session $54 or drop in $8 per classInstructor: Albert Delaney Covid-19 vaccination and masks required. One of the key elements of this program is “play!" Through play, children increase their social competence and emotional maturity.         Standish Community Dog Park CommitteeMission Statement: To establish a fenced-in, off-leash dog park where dogs and dog lovers and friends have a safe, well-maintained environment for recreation and socialization. To promote responsible ca-nine care to Standish area citizens and visitors who will uphold the park’s rules. To respond to the needs of the area for a multigenerational park activity for pets and their people that will be a complement to the town’s existing recreation areas and maintain a positive presence in the community by encouraging recreation through the dog park.How will the park be funded? The dog park is part of an existing expansion project at Memorial Park on Route 25 that will include expanded parking and multipurpose fields (funded by a 2015 bond) and a playground (funded by a 2018 grant). The construction and materials for the dog park are funded by donations, fundraisers and a $25,000 grant awarded by Pet Safe (Standish is one of nine winners in the US). The Ad-hoc Committee will develop a management plan for rules and on-going maintenance of the park to present to the Town Council for approval (April 2019) How to get involved:-Make a donation @ www.standishrec.com or in person at Town Hall-Participate in one of the many fundraisers this year (check website for details)-Donate bottles to our Clynk account (bags available at Parks & Rec office)-Follow the “Standish Community Dog Park” Facebook page for updates       -Join the Ad-Hoc Committee. Supervised, unstructured play between 7:30-9:00am and 4:00-5:30pm. Please bring a lunch and healthy snacks, a water bottle and come dressed for winter outdoor play. Please feel free to bring your own sleds, skates and helmets.  We have plenty of activities to keep your child busy, and ask that you leave electronics and other toys at home! The Standish Active Seniors is a group of older adults from Standish and surrounding communities who regularly come together for friendly conversation, community, and social connection. Each meeting brings a new educational topic or entertainment.The group relies on its member volunteers to organize theme events, decorate for holidays, serve meals, plan events, and recruit new members to join. The Standish Parks & Recreation Department supports this group by providing lunches, planning trips and tours, and promoting activities.New members are always welcome! Join us!                   Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note: If school for MSAD 6 is cancelled due to weather, class will be cancelled and the session will be extended out another week.Date: ThursdaysTime: 9:30 - 10:30 amCost: 8 week session $54 or drop in $8 per classInstructor: Albert Delaney Covid-19 vaccination and masks required.
