                                              Registration deadline is September 2, 2020.Kids' ClubWe strive to offer children a program that is affordable, fun and safe. One of the key elements of this program is “play!" Through play, children increase their social competence and emotional maturity. Activities will include indoor and outdoor sports, group games, arts & crafts, music, dance and occasional field trips to local parks. Each day quiet time will be offered for participants to complete daily virtual learning and independent reading. Although this program during Covid-19 times will be very different from our typical before/after school program of the past, the philosophy and goals will be the same. We are excited to get kids active and playing each day so you can return to work with peace of mind. Your kids will be in capable and caring hands. Each full day will have designated time and space for virtual learning and supervision. A parent handbook has been prepared for your convenience (available on-line by August 27). It informs you of our policies and procedures as well as to provide valuable information to help you to navigate the many details involved with this program. These are unprecedented times and we’re doing our best to adapt to new procedures while collaborating with school administrators and staff to keep kids safe, happy and healthy. General Information  Who: Children in grades 1-5 who attend Edna Libby, Steep Falls and George E. Jack Elementary Schools. We are not accepting Kindergarten children this year, unless there is an older sibling who is also registered for the program.Where: George E. Jack Elementary School. Participants who attend Steep Falls Elementary School may register for the full day care (sorry, no after school care possible for Steep Falls students at this time). Parents are responsible for transportation. If the school department changes to an all green format, we will then change to a traditional before/after school option.    Let's get outside and explore some local trails that include scenic views and easy-to-moderate hiking. Participants should be prepared to walk at your own pace between 1-3 miles on gravel, trails and uneven terrain. Proper footwear, water bottle, bug repellent and sun block recommended.Please note: Due to COVID-19 precautions all participants must wear a mask while on the van as well as have their temperature taken prior to getting on. We will also offer hand sanitizer. Active Senior Citizens of Standish lunches are currently on hold due to COVID-19 until further notice. Please check back in the fall!This group is open to all seniors of the Standish community.  No invitation is necessary, but reservations are required. Each month brings a new educational topic or entertainment for the group to share. Lunch, social and sometimes a brief business meeting are included.  Join us! This is a nine-member committee appointed by the town council. The committee meets the first Thursday of every month. The committee members help to plan and run community events. There are four major events the committee plans each year: Spooktacular, Holiday Tree Lighting, Easter Breakfast, and the Standish Summer Spectacular. The committee members also offer feedback and input for various plans for the department’s parks and other community programming.   The mission of Standish Recreation is to provide all Standish Residents with the very best quality recreational programs, events and facilities possible. Standish Recreation is committed to its stated goals, focusing on making a difference to each of its citizens. Established in 1854, the Evergreen Cemetery in Portland was designed by Charles H. Howe as a rural landscape with winding carriage paths, ponds, footbridges, gardens, a chapel, funerary art, and sculpture. Join us for an educational walk around the cemetery as your guide will offer trivia and interesting facts. After our walk we will cross the street to eat our packed lunches. Please bring your own lunch packed to keep cool along with a chair and some water or a drink. Our lunches will be kept on the van during the walk.Please note: When riding in the van, registrants should wear a mask at all times for your safety and others.
