We strive to offer children a program that is affordable, fun and safe. One of the key elements of this program is “play!" Through play, children increase their social competence and emotional maturity. Activities will include indoor and outdoor sports, group games, arts & crafts, music, dance and occasional field trips. Each day quiet time will also be offered for participants to complete daily homework.A parent handbook has been prepared for your convenience. It informs you of our policies and procedures as well as to provide valuable information to help you to navigate the many details involved with this program.  Please review this handbook with your child. Jack Elementary Schools.Where: George E. Jack Elementary School. Participants who do not attend George E. Jack during the day will be transported by the MSAD6 transportation department. Parents are responsible for making sure to set up transportation with the department. Drop off and pick up are at the side entrance of George E. Jack. Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate-it is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted on-line or over the phone at 642-2875. $30 for 6 -week session.Anyone wishing to register after the session begins will be charged a pro-rated fee of $8/class for the remainder of the session. Single class rate: $8 per class - PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST register prior to the class. NO payments will be taken by the instructor.                    Deb's School Year Cancellation/Weather Cancellation Policy: As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Also, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, there will not be class.

Are you looking to strengthen your body and cardiovascular health while having fun at the same time? This circuit style training class uses a combination of body weight, power and agility moves to increase the heart rate along with strengthen the body. You will leave this class feeling invigorated and motivated to get outstanding results! Modifications are taught for all exercises. Please bring a mat, water bottle and a smile.

The Standish Active Seniors is a group of older adults from Standish and surrounding communities who regularly come together September through June for friendly conversation, community, and social connection. Each meeting brings a new educational topic or entertainment planned by the members.The group relies on member volunteers to organize theme events, decorate for holidays, plan events, and recruit new members to join. The Standish Parks & Recreation Department supports this group by scheduling space, serving meals, and promoting activities.New members are always welcome! Join us!                   Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class.                   Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. The Standish Active Seniors is a group of older adults from Standish and surrounding communities who regularly come together September through June for friendly conversation, community, and social connection. Each meeting brings a new educational topic or entertainment planned by the members.The group relies on member volunteers to organize theme events, decorate for holidays, plan events, and recruit new members to join.                   Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Join us for a visit to the grounds of the St. Anthony's Monastery aka Franciscan Friary, which is about four miles from the town of Kennebunk. Formerly an estate, this facility has been owned and cared for by Lithuanian Franciscans since 1947. The Monastery is situated on 66 acres with rolling lawns, riverside walking paths and English Gardens designed by the landscape architect company of the Frederick Law Olmstead Brothers. As you meander through the peaceful pathways, you can also stop to rest on benches strategically placed along the route and at the outdoor chapels.After some time on the grounds - and in the gift shop - we will find some lunch in the area (on your own) before heading home.

                  Tai Chi is a relaxing and gentle exercise program. It uses slow, multi-directional movements to tone muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance, and to enhance the immune system. Tai Chi also reduces stress and helps to quiet and focus the mind. Studies have shown that it is effective in reducing blood pressure. There are many articles you can research online regarding it's benefits. Tai Chi practice is the recommended exercise for people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Daily practice gives an enhanced feeling of well-being.These classes are in the tradition of Chen Man Ching and Silk Reeling Chi Gong in the tradition of Grand Master Feng.Registration prior to class is mandatory and will be accepted at Town Hall or on-line at www.standishrec.com until the Wednesday before the class is held.  Anyone wishing to register after the 8-week session begins will be charged for the entire class or a pro-rated fee of $8.00/class for the remainder of that session, whichever is lower.Please note:  As a general rule, if the weather is bad and school is cancelled for MSAD6 we will NOT have class. Jack School.  Children attending Edna Libby and Steep Falls Schools will be transported to the After School Program at the end of the school day. *Please note the Bonny Eagle MSAD6 Transportation Policy at www.bonnyeagle.org.Early Release Days: The After School Program WILL BE HELD on the district's scheduled early release days and those are included in the fee for those registered to attend the After School Program.  Children enrolled in the Before School Program are eligible to register for the early release days for an additional fee.  Please call the office at 642-2875 FMI or if you would like this option added to your account.Vaccination Record Requirement:Every child attending the program must have an up to date vaccination record on file with the Department. Please upload a copy to your account, or  send your children vaccine record by fax to 207 642 5181 or email to nbillingslea@standish.org . You can also hand them to a staff member at the program or at the Parks & Rec office.Fees and Payment Information:Automatic monthly payments will be set up when registering. The fee charged each month is the total cost of the program for the year, divided into 10 monthly installments. Your credit/debit card will be charged on the first of each month automatically. You will need to notify the Parks & Recreation Department  if the payment information needs to be updated should your card expire or needs to be changed for any reason.  Declined payments must be corrected as soon as notification is sent. Failure to make payments on past due balances could result in suspension from the program. After School Program Cost: $14/day x 177 days = $2478 / 10 months = $247 per monthBefore School Program Cost: $10/day x 177 days = 1770 / 10 months = $177 per monthCancellation/Refund Policy:Written notice is required two weeks prior to the desired withdrawal date. A refund will be issued at a pro-rated amount for the remainder of the program, beginning on the first day of the next monthly billing cycle. Any days remaining in the month of withdrawal will not be refunded.
