Community Center Steering Committee



The Community Center Steering Committee (CCSC) is being formed by the Standish Town Council to support the Town’s consultant through the community center feasibility study process. The CCSC will have the data and analysis from previous studies available as a resource and baseline. The final design plan will address definitive uses, location, design attributes, and cost analysis. Through this process, the CCSC will guide the consultant’s recommendations to the Council and provide input to Town staff for a capital campaign strategy to implement the project. Final approval for the project will be decided by voters at the November 2020 election.
The Committee will determine its chairperson and how best to structure the frequency and format of its meetings. The Parks & Recreation Department will serve as a resource to the Committee. The Committee’s final recommendations will be submitted to the Council on a date to be determined, no later than July 2020, at which time, the committee will be dissolved.

Supporting Resources:
Several data collection efforts and preliminary studies have been completed and will inform the work of the Committee. In addition, a qualified consulting firm has been hired to conduct a feasibility study for the purpose of facilitating the process and providing necessary cost estimates, architectural and design support services, and summary report to the Committee. The Town Manager, the Parks & Recreation Director, and other Town staff will support the Committee as needed.
