Fall Soccer Program

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Deadline to Register: Wednesday, August 30, 2017
Registration after this date is only if space permits as the teams will have been selected, equipment ordered, and coaches assigned at this time.

*We are unable to accommodate special requests for team placement.  If you are a coach of a team, your child will be placed on the team you coach.  Each age division will practice on the same day and time regardless of team placement.

Volunteer Coaches: The success of this program relies heavily on parent volunteers. No experience is necessary! We can help you. If you enjoy working with kids and can follow a weekly curriculum provided by the recreation department, then you are well on your way to making a positive impact on a child in our community! We need you! You will always be teamed up with a co-coach, so you won’t have to handle it alone. A 50% program fee credit will be applied to all volunteer coaches.

Levels of play and descriptions:
Pee Wee Co-Ed Soccer: Saturdays, September 16 – October 21 from 8:30 am – 9:15 am
This introductory program is for children ages 4 & 5 by August 31, 2017 (open to children in Kindergarten who are not already enrolled in the Kindergarten soccer program).  We will introduce the game of soccer to your little athlete in a fun, non-competitive environment. Each week will introduce a new skill that will encourage your child to learn basic rules, skills, and opportunities to socialize. This is a parent-participation program led by Standish Recreation, so please come prepared to jump in and help out.

Kindergarten Co-Ed Soccer: Saturdays, September 16 – October 21. 9:15 am – 10:15 am.
Kindergarten soccer will be divided into small teams each week with a volunteer coach to lead a combined practice and game each Saturday. An emphasis will be placed on being a part of a team, skill development, fun, and an introduction to the rules of the game. We will have 30 minutes for skills and drills and another 20-30 minutes for 4v4 scrimmage play.

Grades 1 & 2 Co-Ed Soccer: Games held on Saturdays, September 16 – October 21, at 10:30 am.
Players will be placed on co-ed teams with a volunteer coach. There will be one practice during the week and a game of 6v6 against other Standish teams on Saturdays. An emphasis will be placed on skill development, fun, and field positioning.

Grades 3/4 Soccer, Grades 5/6/7 Soccer and Grades 8-12 Soccer: Games held on Saturdays, September 16 – October 21. One (grades 3/4) or two (older levels) weeknight practice that will be determined after registration. Check the schedule under "Team Info" once teams have been divided. These are recreation travel teams which will have 1-2 practices per week, and then a game on Saturdays. Parents should expect to travel to games outside of Standish.

These age groups are divided by gender to be placed on teams with a volunteer coach - unless the registration numbers dictate a change. These are recreation travel teams who will play other recreation teams from surrounding communities as necessary. Emphasis at each level is on skill development, fun, field positioning, and team participation. Although friendly competition is inherent, it is not the focus of these leagues. There will be 1-2 practices per week and Saturday games. Parents should expect to travel to games outside of Standish. Grades 3 & 4 will play 6v6. Grades 5/6/7 will play 8v8. NEW! HIGH SCHOOL TEAM for Grades 8-12 will be 11v11 full field. Teams will be made based on registrations. This league will be 11v11 full field.

Fee: $45 includes t-shirt and age-appropriate soccer ball for pee wee through grade 7 - it is the player’s responsibility to bring his/her own ball to every game and practice. Grades 8 -12 does not include a ball.
